Wilmington’s Next Pickleball Paradise

Tidewater Pickleball Park — Castle Hayne, NC

Our rendering of the upcoming Tidewater Pickleball Park development in Castle Hayne.

Though invented back in 1965, the game of pickleball has recently experienced a surge in popularity due to its accessibility to players of all ages and skill levels. It can be played in both competitive and casual settings, allowing communities to come together and enjoy the sport. The game's friendly and inclusive atmosphere fosters social interaction and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.

In proportion to its increasing popularity in the area, however, Wilmington has a notable scarcity of dedicated pickleball courts. A quick glance at the Cape Fear Pickleball Club’s website reveals that most spaces allowing for pickleball play are actually improvised from existing tennis courts.

Enter Tidewater Pickleball Park — an impressive upcoming development in Castle Hayne featuring nearly two dozen regulation pickleball courts, several of which will be covered by a unique open-roof structure to ensure optimal playing conditions no matter the weather. A tournament court with comfortable stadium seating will provide an elevated viewing experience for spectators.

We had the additional task of designing a 5,000 square-foot building to supplement the facility with a pro shop, locker rooms, and an exclusive restaurant/bar complete with an arcade. In the heart of the site, a lush green space will provide a serene retreat for relaxation and enjoyment.
